The Association Between Executive Functioning and Personal Recovery in People With Psychotic Disorders

Abstract Background Recovery in psychotic disorder patients is a multidimensional concept that can include personal, symptomatic, societal, and functional recovery. Little known about the associations between personal recovery (PR) (FR). FR involves person’s ability to recover or compensate for impaired cognition, such as executive functions, loss of skills. Method In this cross-sectional study (the UP’S study), we used measures functioning assess cohort people with disorder. PR was measured using Recovering Quality Life (ReQOL) Individual Outcomes (I.ROC). assessed two forms assessment. The Behavioral Rating Inventory Executive Functioning Adult version (BRIEF-A) self-rated functioning, Tower London (TOL) performance-based functioning. Regression models were calculated (BRIEF-A TOL) (ReQOL I.ROC). Model selection based on Wald test. Results included data 260 participants. While total scores BRIEF-A had small negative association those ReQOL (? = ?0.28, P > .001) I.ROC ?0.41, .001), TOL not significantly associated 0.03, .76) 0.17, 0.17).
